Soft White Bread Stuffing

Servings: 6–8
Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients:

8–10 slices Promise Gluten Free Soft White Loaf, cubed

3 tbsp unsalted butter

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 celery stalks, finely chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 apple, peeled and diced

1/2 cup dried cranberries or raisins

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

2 tsp fresh sage, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)

1 tsp fresh thyme, chopped (or 1/2 tsp dried)

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1 1/2 cups vegetable or chicken stock

1 egg, lightly beaten

Instructions:

1. Prepare the bread: Cube the Promise Soft White Loaf and toast lightly in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for 8–10 minutes until just golden.

2. Cook the aromatics: In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté onion, celery, and garlic until soft and fragrant, about 5–7 minutes. Add apple, cranberries, nuts, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper, cooking for another 2–3 minutes.

3. Combine: In a large bowl, mix the toasted bread cubes with the sautéed mixture. Slowly pour in the stock and stir until the bread is evenly moistened. Add the beaten egg and combine thoroughly.

4. Bake: Transfer the stuffing to a greased baking dish. Cover with foil and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until the top is golden and slightly crisp.

5. Serve: Garnish with extra fresh herbs if desired and serve alongside your roast for a festive centerpiece.
